The brilliant storylines and charming characters in the hit Aussie animation, Bluey have captured the hearts of families around the world.

One of the big stand-outs from the show for viewers overseas is how it shines a light on the Australian way of life – and our accent.

Currently going viral on social media is a five-second clip from Bluey where a character pronounces the word “airport” in an Australian accent.

In the clip, Bluey’s sister Bingo is told she’s going to the airport to which she simply replies: “Airport? I’m not going to the airport!”

There’s a viral social media challenge where Americans are trying to pronounce airport in an Australian accent.

The comments on TikTok also prove how baffled Americans are by the Australian accent.

One commenter says Bingo pronouncing airport is like “itching our brains for free”.

“These Americans are over-exaggerating it that is literally how everybody in Australia says it,” adds another.

“It’s super weird that they act like they have never heard any accent but their own,” writes a third.

Who knew the way Aussies say airport could cause a social media storm.

It’s not the first time Bluey has caused confusion overseas. Recently, a US mum was left scratching her head by an object she spotted in the background of an episode and took to the Bluey Mums Facebook page to ask for advice.

Amanda, from Massachusetts, spotted something odd in the background of the animated series, and initially thought it was a giant bottle of wine.

“Inquiring minds would love to know what’s up with the wine bottle in the bushes in ‘Daddy Robot’,” wrote Amanda.

It didn’t take long for Aussie mums to set the record straight and that mystery object was indeed a cricket bat.

“Immediately knew it was a cricket bat,” wrote one Bluey fan.
