Selling Sunset’s Mary Fitzgerald shares sad update on her fertility journey

Selling Sunset‘s Mary Fitzgerald has shared a heartbreaking update on her fertility journey.
In a video posted to Instagram the real estate agent from the Oppenheim Group opens up about her egg freezing experience and has cautioned younger women to think about their fertility sooner rather than later.
The reality star and her husband, Romain, were married during the second season of the hit Netflix show. While 41-year-old Mary and 30-year-old Romain are not looking to become pregnant yet, it’s something they do want in the future.
Mary, who has a 23-year-old son, has been undergoing fertility treatments to freeze her eggs now so she and Romain have the best chance of conceiving when they are ready.
“An update on my embryo freezing journey,” she captioned the Instagram video.
“This was definitely not the news we were hoping to get and while it is super disappointing, we are just keeping our heads up.”
Mary shares disappointing news that her recent egg freezing journey was unsuccessful.
Mary began the video by saying she received some “bad news” and then went on to explain that none of the eggs they harvested and fertilised were considered good enough quality to implant.
Mary urges her female fans to consider freezing their eggs when they’re young.
“PLEASE consider doing this at the youngest age possible if you know/think you want to have children🙏🏼 Sharing my experience in hopes of helping anyone who is interested in doing this process🙌🏼🤍” she captioned the video.
Mary, 41, and Romain, 30, are hoping to have a baby in the future.
In the video Mary encourage women to learn from her fertility journey. “Freeze your eggs when you’re young. I don’t feel old. I don’t feel I look old. But our eggs can’t work out, they can’t do botox. Your eggs age. Unfortunately this is part of being over 40. This is a learning lesson for anyone out there, if you are focussed on your career or you haven’t met the right guy yet, freeze your eggs.”
Mary finished by saying that she and Romain are planning to go through the egg freezing journey again.
“We’re going to go through the process again. It’s very disappoing.”

What is egg freezing?
IVF Australia says, egg freezing is a method of storing a woman’s unfertilised eggs to allow her to try to conceive at a later date, when natural conception would be unlikely. It may be seen as a way of preserving the possibility of fertility for women who are not in a position to become pregnant straight away, or whose fertility is at risk for medical reasons such as cancer treatment.
Frozen eggs may be stored for many years without significant deterioration. When the woman is ready to use her eggs, they are warmed, and then fertilised with sperm. The aim is for the fertilised egg to develop into an embryo, which can then be transferred to the woman’s uterus giving a chance of pregnancy.
