The incredible images showing the beauty, pain and wonder of childbirth

Labour & Birth 14 Feb 20 By

One thing's for sure, women are mighty.

With every child who comes into this world, there’s something that becomes more apparent, and that is the fact that there are no two childbirths the same.

In recent years talented photographers have been developing creative ways to capture each unique childbirth with still images that manage to convey the energy in the room during labour, birth and those precious fist moments as a new family.

Each year, Birth Becomes Her holds a national competition, calling for submissions from birth photographers around the globe, and we’re wowed by the beauty and power in each and every one.

This year they’ve curated 400 incredible entries who are now in the running to take out the title in 2020.

“We couldn’t be more proud of this curated, diverse, and powerful collection of birth imagery,” say Jenn and Monet from Birth Becomes Her.

Right now their judges are going through the process of reviewing and scoring each image, but they’ve let us in for a sneaky peak and we’re sharing some of our personal favourites in the gallery below.

A huge thank you to the incredible families who have been so generous to let us take a glimpse into these special moments.
