What we learnt from Pinterest’s first-ever Parenting Trend Report

Learning, but make it fun

Parents are looking for ways to support literacy, numeracy, and life skills at home, and searches for “daily routine chart for kids” (+575%) and “cognitive worksheets” (+540%) show they want practical, hands-on learning.

At the same time, outdoor adventures are booming, with “environmental activities for kids” (+220%) and “wild animals activities” (+170%), proving that children learn best when they’re exploring and experiencing.

Family time that actually feels like family time

At home, spaces are being transformed into DIY playgrounds, sensory zones, and little labs for life skills – sensory play ideas” searches are up 1070%.

Parenting with a side of purpose

It’s not all fun and games, parents are serious about doing it right (their way). Pinterest shows searches for “slow motherhood” +310% and “positive discipline” +295%.

Families are blending warmth with structure, raising kids who are confident, curious, and resilient, without losing their sanity.

Play that actually matters

Toys and clothes aren’t just cute filler anymore. “Flying toys” +735% and “basement jungle gym” +345% show parents are buying for movement, imagination, and shared fun. Screens aren’t gone, but movie nights (+140%) and watch parties (+62%) are now full-on family rituals

Nostalgia meets modern childhood

Parents are taking cues from their own childhoods: vintage baby clothes, analogue toys, and tactile play are all making a comeback. It’s about slowing down, letting kids explore, and remembering what childhood really felt like.
