"We're so excited to be expanding the family."

Hot on the heels of the Met Gala 2022, Sophie Turner’s first acknowledgement of her second pregnancy was published in Elle UK on May 4, 2022.

The 26-year-old cover star chose the global fashion brand as the first place to discuss her much rumoured pregnancy, as well as discuss topics including the actress’s relationship with social media and mental health.

Throughout 2022, images of the Game of Thrones actress clearly showed that she was expecting her second child with Louis Vuitton ambassador husband Joe Jonas, although pair never acknowledged it.

Earlier this year, Chrissy Teigan made an impassioned plea for the media to stop asking women if they were pregnant, which is perhaps why celebrity titles avoided outwardly saying that Sophie was expecting.

On the Met Gala red carpet, the loving couple cradled Sophie’s third trimester baby bump, while the Elle UK cover image showed photos from – understandably – several months ago.

The celebrity duo welcomed their first child, Willa, in July 2020, and it looks like their daughter will be a big sister soon after her second birthday.

In the Elle interview, The Staircase actress said of her family, “It’s what life is about for me – raising the next generation. The greatest thing in life is seeing my daughter go from strength to strength. We’re so excited to be expanding the family. It’s the best blessing ever.”

She goes on to state that she is “very protective of the life we’ve built”, and says that the decisions the couple makes about red carpet appearances are always done with their careers in mind, not for celebrity itself.

“You never want to market yourself as a celebrity couple. It’s not that cool. And my daughter never asked for any of this”, she told the magazine before revealing that her mental health had suffered as a result of industry pressure and being photographed, watched and talked about.

“It’s not something I want [Willa] to deal with unless she says, ‘This is what I want to do.’ We’re quite strict about that.”

Appropriately dressed in Louis Vuitton, Sophie discussed her second pregnancy for the first time in an exclusive interview with Elle UK.

Sophie previously told The Wrap that becoming a mother has given her a new perspective, making her not only a better person but a better acor.

“The concept of family has made me an entirely much more emotional person,” she said “The empathy is heightened; the feelings about family are just like overflowing.

“The only way to become a really brilliant actor is to experience as much life as possible and to bring those experiences in, and so this is just another little part of life that I’m experiencing that I get to bring in and hopefully it helps my performance one way or another.”

The actors have come a long way since their first forays onto our screens. Joe Jonas first appeared on the Disney Channel in the eponysmously titled Jonas TV show alongside  brothers Nick and Kevin in 2009, while Sophie hit the big time at the age of 15 in her role as Sansa Start in Games of Thrones.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have been together since 2016 and married in Las Vegas in 2019 with a second wedding in France later the same year.

It’s not expected that the Turner-Jonas family will reveal any hints about their second baby, so don’t hold out for a gender reveal party. We anticipate sharing in the family’s new arrival when they are ready to announce their news to the world.
