Their hips don't lie!

It looks like pop sensation Shakira passed her dance abilities onto her two sons! The trio took to TikTok and busted some moves to J Balvin and Skrillex’s hit In Da Getto!

The boys, 9yo Milan and 7yo Sasha who the 45yo Wherever, Whenever songstress shares with recent ex, Spanish Footballer, Gerard Piqué kept pace with their famous mum and it looks like the apples have not fallen far from the tree.

Check out their moves below …

What style of dancing was Shakira known for?

With over a billion streams on Spotify and once labelled “one of the greatest Latina performers of our time” Shakira certainly made a name for herself, and it is in part, thanks to her epic dance moves.

The Colombian native adapted her own hybrid kind of belly dancing, no doubt inspired by her Middle Eastern background and her Colombian upbringing. The Hips Don’t Lie star’s father’s family is Lebanese and immigrated to Colombia when he was just five years old, and her mother is Colombian.

During her infamous Super Bowl performance with JLo in 2020 (see clip above) Shakira paid tribute to the influence of black culture in Colombia by incorporating mapalй, an Afro-Colombian dance style that enslaved Africans brought to Latin America.

During her Waka Waka performance in the second half, Shakira and her dancers performed style of dance known as champeta. Champeta has its roots in the Afro-Colombian communities of Shakira’s hometown of Barranquilla.

A quick scroll through her Instagram shows that music is a huge part of her boys’ life too as she often shares footage of their piano and dance performances.

The end of an era

On the weekend, the Loca songstress and Gerard Piqué announced that after 11 years, they would be separating.

The pair, who met on set of a Shakira video, released a joint statement that read: “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the wellbeing of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy”.

In 2010 Shakira’s global hit, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) became the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which was held in South Africa.

It was during the filming for the video, that featured cameos from various famous soccer players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi that the star met Gerard Piqué.

The pair later later confirmed their relationship in 2011.

Sadly, Shakira and her long-term partner, Gerard Piqué have announced a split.

The pair welcomed their eldest son, Milan, in January of 2013, soon followed by the arrival of Sasha in January 2015.

The Grammy winner spoke candidly about the difficulties of being a working mum in a 2019 interview with Viva magazine.

“Sometimes its very hard when you can not see your sons for a month or even more,”she said. “It is so hard. But we call each other via FaceTime, so we are in constant communication, that helps.”

In the same interview the La La La singer described parenting with her football star beau.

“We don’t have a written deal to share the tasks or anything like that, but we both are very involved in parenting and try to sort it out the best we can. We support each other and we also find a huge help in our families. We don’t know a different way to do it!”

In March 2014, the former Voice judge told Latina magazine that she wanted her “own fútbol team” with Gerard.

“If it weren’t because of my music projects, I would be pregnant already,” Shakira said at the time. “I would love to have eight or nine kids with Gerard.”

The boys are really into Brazilian Jujitsu too.

The star claims that motherhood helped her “learn how to focus,” and had a positive impact on her relationship with her adoring fans.

“When you have a baby, when you feel his love, you feel so at peace with the world. You just want to share the good news and share how happy you feel,” Shakira said. “I have so many people out there that celebrate with me when they know that I’m happy. And they hate it when they know that I’m suffering because someone has hurt me. In a way I feel supported and, in a very strange way, accompanied through life. They express so much love for Milan, so much affection. I can only hope that as he grows up he learns how to give that love back to all of those people that give him so much every day.”

The recent split announcement has fuelled coverage of legal troubles facing the pair as individuals.

Shakira is facing a potential court trial on tax fraud charges in Spain. Prosecutors have accused her of failing to pay 14.5 million euros ($A21.5 million) in taxes on income earned between 2012 and 2014, accusations which are strongly denied by the singer.

Shakira has denied any wrongdoing and her public relations firm says that she has paid back all that she owed.

Gerard himself has been implicated in a probe by Spanish state prosecutors looking into the contracts behind the hosting of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia with accusations of him having received commissions worth several million euros for his part in taking the tournament to the Middle Eastern kingdom.

All accusations are denied by the football star.
