Ruby Tuesday Matthews: “Please be kind on yourself, there’s no rush”
After the birth of her third child, the Byron Bay influencer echoes Tiff Hall's concept of 'bouncing forward'
New mums are warming to the idea that they don’t have to ‘bounce back’ or be in a rush to get back into their pre-baby clothes or shape, and to see celebrities and influencers rallying really helps.
Tiff Hall publicly discussed her feelings about her ‘fourth trimester’ body after the birth of her second baby, daughter Vada at the end of May 2022.
Now Byron Bay influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews has shared how she felt and feels about her body after carrying three children – and encouraging new mums to take the pressure off can only be a good thing.
Taking to her Instagram account this week, 27-year-old Ruby chose to let her followers know that while it was lovely to hear compliments and messages saying that she looks great so soon after having her third baby – daughter Holiday, with fiance Shannan Dodd – she wanted to share “a little reminder to mamas and new mamas to be kind on yourself”.
Mum to sons Rocket (5yo) and Mars (4yo), with ex-partner Ryan Heywood, Ruby admitted “All of our journeys are different; truthfully sharing that she’s “20kg heavier and just taking each day as it comes” after the birth of Holiday in September 2022.
Ruby Tuesday Matthews shared an image with the caption saying “Why did God not give mothers another two set of hands. Just saying”; and then another of her post-partum body (inset).
After the praise for ‘bouncing back’ started to pour in, the influencer shared a second photo, four days post partum, holding her newborn daughter and admitted that the change in her body after her first baby, Rocket, was the hardest.
“I hated my body and the way I looked. I used to look in the mirror and cry,” she wrote.
“WE DID IT ! Sharing some of our special moments of when Holiday arrived 🥹 a special thank you my BFF @ashleapenfold for joining us and to my OB Neil Wallman and all the wonderful staff at John Flynn and our incredible paediatrician Stephen 🤍”
“Please be kind on yourself there’s no rush.”
Ruth posted a cute video of her pregnancy through to going into hospital for a c-section and acknowledges that “Change is hard especially when you lose your old self (and wardrobe 🤣)”
Third times is a charm and with baby number three, “I’m a lot more relaxed and I trust that my body will do it thing if I nourish it eat whole healthy foods.
“Please be kind on yourself there’s no rush. When you become a mumma you completely loose yourself and then slowly build yourself into a stronger, wiser more patient woman. It’s really a blessing that at times can be hard to see 🤍”
