The baby names we can expect to see a lot of in 2023
Baby name experts have dropped their hit predictions for what should be the most popular baby name trends throughout 2023 ... and there are some doozies!
Are you pregnant now, or planning on welcoming a new little one in 2023? Chances are you’re already considering what kind of name you’ll bestow upon them.
Without a crystal ball it is difficult to know what name trends we’ll see in the new year, however the baby name experts at Nameberry HQ have been formulating and equating and have come up with the names that they predict will see a rise in popularity in 2023 and the results are fascinating.
From classics poised on the brink of a renaissance, to cool word names rising, to international favourites they’ve selected a diverse bunch of name with irresistible appeal in 2023.
And their reasons for choosing each names place on the list is captivating too.
Nameberry Editor Clare says that Archie is sure to see a rise, thanks to Harry and Meghan. “With the British royals in the spotlight so much this year, I can see Harry and Meghan’s son’s name crossing the Atlantic even more than it already has.”
While the unique name Yuna has international appeal. “Yuna shares sounds with the ultra-popular Luna, yes, but much of its appeal lies in the fact that it’s a multicultural mini name,” says Nameberry Editor Sophie. “Yuna has roots in Japanese, Breton, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Ukrainian, and more. I’d put good money on Yuna cracking the Top 1000 next year.”

Celebrity fave, Wilde could soar in 2023 too according to Emma. “Wild(e)card! An under-the-radar celebrity favorite right now, popping up here and there in various spellings (Wild, Wilde, Wylde). Wilde would be my prediction for the spelling that will win out – it has a surnamey edge to temper the wildness of the word, and serious literary cachet.”
While unisex names like Halston may see a surge in popularity too. “We love Hal- names for girls, and Halston is the next Hailey/Hallie/Hadley,” says Sophie. “Halston appeals because it’s unisex, has a modern sound, and is straight out of the fashion world. That ticks a lot of boxes for many parents!”
A surprising entry on the list was the unique name, Luxury. Sophie says: “Luxury was only given to 10 baby girls last year, but I have a feeling it will rise exponentially. We’ve seen many more babies (of both sexes) named Lux over the past few years, and Luxury is the obvious next step. I think it’s just one celebrity baby away from being a massive hit.”
