Wings, ribbons, fluffy ears and an explosion of colour – you won’t find boring beige socks at MADMIA.
Back in 2019, Sydney mum and designer Tanja Filipovska had just $10,000 to her name when she backed herself and forked out $7,000 on a small stall at the Royal Easter Show – armed with nothing but her bright, adorable sock designs.
Her hope? Maybe, just maybe, she’d break even. What actually happened? A sock frenzy. Her little stand drew massive crowds, wrapping around the block.
Fast forward to today, and her brand, MADMIA, is a global fashion phenomenon, selling 10 pairs of socks every minute. That’s 600 pairs an hour. Of socks.
MADMIA madness: Disney collabs, collectibles a whole lot of fun
MADMIA’s not just socks anymore – it’s a full-blown movement. Known for dopamine-drenched designs with ears, laces, sparkles, and pure joy sewn in, the brand has caught the attention of some seriously big names: Disney, Warner Bros., Mattel, Harry Potter, and more.
“It’s been an incredible ride, and nothing excites us more than seeing the joy our designs bring to people of all ages,” says Tanja.
