The way these parents pronounce their baby name is breaking the internet!

"You can’t just name your kid a regular word and say it’s pronounced completely different?!???? You can’t….????"

When it comes to naming a baby, these days pretty much anything goes. However one mum seems to have pushed the boundaries a little too far when she chose a common verb for her new baby’s name, then decided to pronounce it in a completely different way to which it is used every day.

Dividing opinion online, an anonymous Reddit user took to the online platform to share an offending baby name post they had seen online that had left them completely dumbfounded, and boy, did the internet respond in turn!

Speaking about baby name choices, they wrote: “The worst one I’ve seen this week. The pronunciation is even worse,” before sharing an image they had found on social media depicting a woman who had just had a baby.

Over the photo, a caption read: “We welcomed a beautiful little girl into this world named Imagine in 2018. (Em-ah-jen).”

While the name might read “imagine”, the poster clarified that it was to be pronounced Em-ah-jen.

“We welcomed a beautiful little girl into this world named Imagine in 2018. (Em-ah-jen).”

As you might expect, the post sparked a whole host of reactions among Redditors, with many left baffled not only by the name choice, but by the way the spelling and the pronunciation seemed completely at odds with each other!

One such commenter explained a better option was available, declaring: “Imogen was right there!”

Another agreed with that sentiment, asking: “Was this supposed to be Imogen but they didn’t know how to spell it?”

That set comments off on a whole different tangent when someone said they didn’t like the name “Imogen” as it “reminds me of a chemical or element of the periodic table” but it would still be “better than this atrocity.”

The way a new mum is pronouncing her baby name is breaking the internet!

The general consensus was that little Imagine was in for a whole world of problems when it came to explaining her name for ever more.

“From her first day of kindergarten, she’s going to have to correct her teachers, substitutes, administrators, and anyone else who reads her name out. (I know what I’m talking about; my own name has five letters, and has been mangled endlessly),” shared one commenter.

“It doesn’t seem like a huge problem, but it’s going to get really tiresome for Imagine.”

However it was this baffled reader who seemed to succinctly sum up what everyone was thinking when they exclaimed: “You can’t just name your kid a regular word and say it’s pronounced completely different?!???? You can’t….????”

What are your thoughts? Is this creativity gone wrong or a sweet original choice?
