Bad dads: Midwives share the worst behaviour from supporting partners in the delivery room
"Trying to put a cap on the baby while it's crowning.."
While the mum-to-be is meant to play the star of the show during labour, some supporting partners didn’t get that memo, preferring to engage in some questionable behaviour that some might say is not so supportive after all.
An Aussie midwife called Tylah has shared a clip to TikTok that shines a light on such behaviour and it’s a doozy!
Captioned: “Midwives spill about bad dad behaviour in labour and birth,” Tylah and a fellow midwife call out all the absolute worst behaviour they’ve seen from men in the delivery room in the the clip that has since gone viral.
“It’s when he misses the birth to validate the parking ticket for me,” says Tylah before her friend adds, “It’s when he scrolls through his phone the whole time during labour for me.”
Back and forth, the pair continue to list all of the birth suite nightmares they’ve witnessed including partners asking when the stretch marks will go away, to ducking out to the pub and even doing a poo in the hospital toilet… with the door open!
Notable mention to the dad who asked if his wife’s vagina would “go back to normal” while it was being sutured after an episiotomy. Ugh!
But our personal favourite? “Trying to put a cap on the baby while it’s crowning..”

The hilarious clip has since received more than 170,000 likes and nearly 2000 comments, all of which confirm that ‘bad dads’ in the delivery room is a legitimate ‘thing’!
Many commenters shared their own experiences that equalled those shared in the clip and more.
“It’s when you’ve just had a premature baby and he tells you that he needs to go home and change his socks and he’ll be back in the morning,” shared one.
“It’s when he says ‘we’.” shared another. “We don’t want pain relief, we’re in labour we want a natural experience.”
“A HAT WHILE CROWNING,” commented one person, adding, “I would yeet my man outta there so quick.”
“It’s the talking to his mistress while his wife is in labour for me,” said another.
“It’s when he complains the this is taking too long for me …”
Other commenters failed to see the funny side.
“These are just really sad, those poor mothers,” said one such commenter.
“It’s really not funny though,” said another. “These things are traumatic for the mum. Not sure why you guys are laughing and making it into a joke. It’s devastating.”
