The coronation of King Charles III – and his wife, who will be known as Queen Camilla – took place on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

It was the first time in 70 years that Britain has crowned a new monarch and the ceremony was watched by millions around the world.

To pay tribute to the King Charles III, we’re taking a look at our favourite royal baby names.

Online shopping platform, OnBuy.com decided to dig into that history a little deeper, by finding out which royally inspired baby names have been the most popular.

To do this, they collated a list of names from the royal family’s line of succession and analysed Forebears.io to see which name were the most popular royal baby names across the globe

Prince Harry and Duchess Megan are parents to Archie and Lilibet.

OnBuy.com reveals the most popular royally inspired male baby name is James, with an estimated 8,807,695 people bearing the name of the Earl of Wessex’s son, James, Viscount Severn.

In close second place is the name Peter, with an estimated 7,469,320 people sharing the same name as Princess Anne’s first born, Peter Phillips.

In third place is the name William with 6,351,385 people across the globe bearing the same name as the Prince of Wales.

In fourth place with 4,948,767 results is the name Charles, the moniker of King Charles III and in fifth place with 4,592,330 results is Mark.

OnBuy.com can reveal the most popular royally inspired female baby name is Elizabeth, with a 6,028,529 bearing the name of the late Queen of England.

Placing second is the name Sarah, with an estimated 4,826,386 also sharing the same name as the Duchess of York.

In third place is Diana, with an estimated 3,553,640 globally bearing the name of the late Princess of Wales.

In fourth place with 2,909,605 results is the name Catherine, our new Princess of Wales, and in fifth place with 2,542,114 results is Anne.
