The beautiful romance between Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith
The loved-up couple share a 3yo daughter.
When Joshua Jackson met actresss Jodie Turner-Smith in 2018, there was an instant connection.
Reflecting on the night they met, Jodie said their romance started with a one-night stand that is still going.
“When I first met my husband, it was kind of – we had a one-night stand,” Jodie, 36, shared during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2021.
“I saw him before he saw me and when I saw him, I was like, ‘I want that’,” she explained. “And then when he saw me, I just pretended like I didn’t see him.”
Fast-forward five years and the couple are now married with a three-year-old daughter, Janie.
Joshua Jackon, 44, rose to fame playing the sarcastic Pacey Witter on the teen series Dawson’s Creek, which premiered in 1998.
He went on to star in Cruel Intentions, Little Fires Everywhere, Dr Death and many more films and TV shows.
Jodie is a British actress and model who made her feature film debut in The Neon Demon and has since acted in Queen & Slim, After Yang and White Noise.

“I saw him before he saw me and when I saw him, I was like, ‘I want that’,” said Jodie of their first meeting.
How did they meet?
Joshua and Jodie met through a mutual friend at a charity event in 2018. In the beginning, the couple both described their relationship as a casual one.
“In the beginning, we did this dance with each other like, ‘Oh, this is casual.’ Except that, we’d spend every moment together and find reasons to be in other cities together at the same time,” the The Affair actor told The Times.
The romantic proposal
Jodie proposed to Joshua on New Year’s Eve while on holidays in Nicaragua.
“We were in Nicaragua. It was very beautiful, incredibly romantic. We were walking down the beach, and she asked me to marry her,” Joshua told Jimmy Fallon in 2021.
“I don’t know if she planned it or if it was a spur-of-the-moment thing, but out popped a proposal I was not expecting and the organic and instinctive answer was yes”, he told The Times recently.
The couple secretly tied the knot in 2019.
“It is impossible for me to look into the face of my child without feeling love for my wife.”
Joshua on fatherhood
In April 2020, Joshua and Jodie welcomed their first child, a daughter named, Janie.
“Six months [after the proposal], she was pregnant and we were on our way. Now, we have this beautiful baby who is the literal manifestation of that love,” Joshua told The Times.
“It is impossible for me to look into the face of my child without feeling love for my wife. (Fatherhood) has changed me in every single possible way.”
Joshua also opened up to E! News about family life with Jodie and Janie.
“It’s pretty spectacular, honestly,” he said. “This having a kid thing together is pretty magical.”

Jodie opened up to Net-A-Porter’s magazine about her relationship with Joshua.
“I’m really in love with my husband. That might be weird for people, but I’m doing a pretty good job of not shouting that from the rooftops as much as I would like to. He’s a really amazing dude,” she said.
Jodie explained how their romance has “only gotten better” over the years. “I feel so grateful for that. That’s why I share it sometimes, because I love him. I think he’s hot, I think he’s smart and he’s incredibly talented. I feel so lucky to be in a relationship with somebody who feels the same about me, who is not shy about telling me that or uplifting me.”
Joshua’s past relationships
Joshua dated actress Diane Kruger for 10 years before they split in 2016.
The Dr Death star also briefly dated actresses Rosario Dawson from 2002-2003 and during the filming of the first two seasons Dawson’s Creek (1998-1999) he was in a relationship with co-star Katie Holmes.
