Australia’s new Bluey coins are back. And parents are already lining up
Find out where you can get your hands on the new Bluey coins.
After the 2024 sell-out “Dollarbucks”, Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint are back with a brand-new $2 Bluey coin collection.
From Wednesday 6 May, families and collectors can get their hands on limited-edition designs featuring everyone’s favourites, Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli.
And if history is anything to go by, these collectable Dollabucks won’t last long.
What’s actually in the new collection?
The new release includes five limited-edition $2 “Dollarbuck” coins, each featuring scenes from beloved episodes including Camping, Sleepytime, Rain, Baby Race and Granny Mobile.
The coins come in a collection folder with five dedicated slots, plus space for additional coins that will enter circulation.
There’s also a special Bluey star privy mark version available for collectors.
What you can buy (and how much)
You can pick up the collection folder with five $2 coins for $34. Individual coin cards are $20 each (with a limit of one per person), the $2 coloured proof coin in a collector’s box is $60, and the $2 coloured silver proof coin comes in at $115. There’s also a 1-in-10 chance of finding a special coloured coin in circulation.
Why parents are already paying attention
Struck by the Royal Australian Mint in partnership with BBC Studios, the coins are designed in collaboration with Ludo Studio in Queensland, and they’re not just cute, they’re becoming seriously collectible.
Previous Bluey coin releases have already proven how wild demand can get, with some $1 sets reportedly reselling for upwards of $350.
“Bluey is loved by families across Australia and the world, and these first ever $2 coins are a fun way for fans to connect with the characters they love,” said Australia Post Executive General Manager Retail, Brand & Marketing Josh Bannister.
