Former Bachelor star shares heartbreaking stillbirth of daughter Olive
“We have never known a love like this and have never felt a pain like this.”
Trigger warning: This article discusses stillbirth and the loss of a baby, which may be distressing for some readers.
Former Bachelorette contestant Bill Goldsmith and his partner, Issy Eisermann, have shared the devastating news that their baby girl, Olive May Goldsmith, was stillborn.
The couple posted a heartfelt announcement on Instagram on Monday evening, alongside a series of black-and-white photos showing them tenderly cradling their daughter.
“Our sweet girl, Olive May Goldsmith, was born sleeping on Thursday, 31st October at 4:14am at 27 weeks 🤍🕊️✨”

The post continued: “She put up the strongest fight, especially these last few weeks, with all odds against her and continued to surprise the doctors and midwives with her strength to hold on, until she no longer could. She is beyond perfect – too perfect for this broken world. I have never seen a little face and body so purely perfect. Olive had her mum’s lips, smile lines, and cheeks, and her dad’s long legs.”
The couple shared: “We have never known a love like this and have never felt a pain like this. The words “I’m sorry, there is no heartbeat” will haunt us forever.”
Bill and Issy spent three precious days in hospital with Olive after her birth and describes them as “equally the most special and hardest days we will ever live. We cuddled endlessly, showered her with kisses, dressed her, read to her, sang to her, and took her outside. We told her every second how perfect and loved she is. Leaving Olive was the hardest thing we will ever have to do. No parent should ever have to say goodbye to their baby or walk out of the hospital without them.

“We love you more than you could ever imagine, Olive. You were a fighter until the end and kept your mum and dad strong throughout the most heartbreaking journey.”
The pair also thanked their medical team and loved ones for their support.
“We cannot thank our medical team across three hospitals enough for their support and expertise guiding us through this incredibly tough time, especially the last 7 weeks.
“To our family and friends who have supported us throughout this long and heartbreaking journey, we are so blessed and grateful. The support we have received, along with all of your prayers, love, and kindness, is something we will forever hold close and be endlessly thankful for. Until we meet again, our sweet girl, Olive.”
Our thoughts are with Bill, Issy and their families as they grieve their beautiful daughter, Olive.
