Popular baby brand Bugaboo has issued a nationwide recall of its Giraffe highchair after reports that the legs can detach during use – posing a serious fall risk to babies and toddlers.

The voluntary recall, listed on ACCC Product Safety, affects several models of the Bugaboo Giraffe highchair, which is designed for babies from 6 months to toddlers up to 100kg (without the baby set).

Why the recall?

Bugaboo has identified that the screws connecting the legs to the seat frame may become loose and detach, which can cause the highchair to collapse while your child is seated. This presents a serious fall hazard.

There have been reported incidents and an injury involving young children using the product.

Is your highchair affected?

Check the model number on your Bugaboo Giraffe highchair. The recall includes the following models:

• 200001013
• 200001001
• 200001002
• 200001005
• 200001007

What to do next: If you own one of the recalled highchairs:

1. Stop using it immediately.
2. Head to Bugaboo’s service page to register for a free repair kit.
3. Once it arrives, replace the screws using the updated Allen key and instruction guide provided.
