Product review: My honest review of the Bugaboo Kangaroo as a first-time mum
By Jessica Parker
“The Bugaboo Kangaroo was the solution to the three main situations I considered while searching for the perfect pram.”
One thing you’re never short on while pregnant is recommendations. While expecting my first baby, I admit I became slightly overwhelmed by the many prams and strollers other parents swore by. However, during my research, Bugaboo was one of the brands I found universally agreed upon by many as the gold standard.
Bugaboo as a brand has grown and adapted to the ever-changing needs of the modern family. I was fortunate enough to try their most recent addition to their product range which claims to deliver all the flexibility and confidence you hope for in a pram.
Here are my honest thoughts on the Bugaboo Kangaroo.
Bugaboo Kangaroo review verdict
Our rating: 9/10
Why we rated it a (9/10): If you’re looking for a pram to grow with your family from newborn to toddler, the Kangaroo is it! Bugaboo has created a product that delivers on safety and high-end style all while addressing functionality concerns in the single-to-double tandem pram space.

- Single to double design.

- Bassinet on top double pram configuration.
- Compatible with your car seat.
- One-hand frame collapse.
- Large shock-absorbing wheels for a smoother ride.
- Bassinet and stroller seat included in purchase.
Cons

- Sibling seat is sold separately.
- Higher price range.

What’s so special about the Bugaboo Kangaroo?
The most impressive feature of this pram is undoubtedly its possible 20 configurations. Unlike most other single-to-double prams on the market, the Bugaboo Kangaroo allows the bassinet to sit above the toddler seat when using it as a double, meaning your eldest can enjoy the sights while you have a clear view and access to your newest little one.
As a new mum of one, this feature gave me confidence for our growing family. Prams are certainly an investment, and when my daughter outgrows the bassinet, I can seamlessly switch it out for the stroller seat. Similarly, when we decide to grow our family, the Bugaboo Kangaroo can be reconfigured to suit our needs with the sibling seat attachment.
- The frame has an easy single-hand fold into a self-standing compact structure.
- The bassinet attachment can sit above the sibling seat.
- The pram is compatible with a range of car seats and capsules using adapters.

Not only does Bugaboo consider your family’s future, they also have the planet’s future in mind. This sustainable pram has been developed using bio-based materials and uses 100% vegan leather to convey the brand’s signature luxurious design without harming the environment.
- Let your personality shine with the four modern colourways: Moon Grey, Midnight Black, Desert Taupe, and Dark Cherry Red.
- Bugaboo has reduced its CO2 footprint by 16% with the Kangaroo.
- The PureBreeze mattress features antibacterial technology to put your mind at ease when considering your child’s health.
What do others have to say about it?
Linda P. 5/5
“The Bugaboo Kangaroo is a game changer adding another option to the double stroller market. It’s’ lightweight design and well balanced engineering make it a breeze to maneuver through smooth and rough terrain. We love that we can set the stroller up with two front-facing seats which our kids prefer. Large vented canopy are helpful in keeping the kids cool and protected from the sun.”
Tired Mama 4/5
“The luxurious, spacious, smooth Bugaboo we all love. Drives very smoothly with 2 toddlers. The basinett is very spacious and grand. Kids loved the stroller. Only complaint is when you use the bassinet on top much harder to maneuver. Also you lose storage space. But overall great features.”

One month with the Bugaboo Kangaroo: Here’s how it went
Upon delivery, the Bugaboo Kangaroo proved to be considerably straightforward. My husband and I have never had to assemble a pram, but the instructions were clear, with the frame, bassinet, and stroller attachments kept separate and well-protected in the packaging. The product took no longer than 20 minutes to assemble.
We went with the Desert Taupe colourway which coordinated seamlessly with our nursery. The sleek brown vegan leather and modern gold hardware add an extra layer of luxury I certainly didn’t find in any other prams with the same level of functionality.
Smooth rides, smart design
While the Kangaroo’s aesthetic certainly deserves praise, it’s the product’s overall durability that has impressed me the most from day one. Our newborn’s first outdoor walk felt sturdy and safe thanks to the pram’s large shock-absorbing wheels and front-wheel suspension. We tested the wheel alignment and steering over multiple terrains including grass, gravel driveways and pothole-filled streets. As we approach the end of our first month and many walks later, each ride is still as smooth as that first day with little to no signs of wear.

Over the last four weeks, we have found the weather to be increasingly temperamental. The bassinet’s breezy panels allow for airflow during the warmer days, while the fabric is well insulated, giving us peace of mind on those crisp Autumn morning walks. While we’re out and about, the 13kg underseat basket has been a lifesaver. From nappy bags and blankets to groceries and beach towels, we can be prepared for all situations and changes in weather.
Most parents know the dreaded feeling of moving a sleeping baby from a car seat, this is thankfully something we have yet to experience. The Bugaboo Kangaroo has adapters available that make it possible for us to click our capsule onto the frame of the pram without disturbing our little one.
Built for now – and later
Due to the Kangaroo’s single-to-double capability, it is a heavier product. While we currently only have one child, we do plan on expanding our family in the future so this wasn’t a huge concern for us. During my post-partum recovery, my husband needed to put the pram in and out of the car, however now I can use the one-hand fold function to easily collapse the frame and load it into the boot myself.
Overall, is the Bugaboo Kangaroo worth it?
The Bugaboo Kangaroo was the solution to the three main situations I considered while searching for the perfect pram. It has capsule compatibility. Includes a bassinet and stroller attachment for an easy transition, and has single-to-double capability for our growing family.
If you’re looking for a pram that does all of this and doesn’t sacrifice functionality and safety for style, the Bugaboo Kangaroo is for you.
However, if you’re in the market for a single pram that still ticks the same boxes in areas of protection, opulence, and durability, check out Bugaboo’s Fox 5.
