Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has credited his baby girl for breaking the internet.

He might be best known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies but now new dad, Rupert Grint now has another claim to fame.

The 32-year-old British actor now holds the record for the fastest account to gain one million followers on Instagram, a title previously held by Jennifer Aniston.

Rupert gained the mass following within four hours and one minute of joining the platform and sharing his first photo, setting a world record.

“I don’t believe it. It’s very, very surreal,” Rupert told Entertainment Tonight.

“I never thought I would [join Instagram]. I always said that I wouldn’t, and then I just thought, ‘It’s been such a crazy [time]. So why not?’ It’s insane.”

Before Rupert, Sir David Attenborough held the record for a while after dethroning Jennifer’s record. Selena Gomez and Beyoncé have also held the title in the past.

When Jennifer Aniston joined Instagram she reached one million followers in five hours and 16 minutes.

Referencing his first social media post back in November 2020, Rupert gave all the credit to his eight-month-old daughter, who he shares with his wife Georgia Groome, for creating an online frenzy.

“I think Wednesday actually broke the internet, personally. She gets the credit,” he said.

Rupert’s first post was a pic of himself holding his daughter, who was dressed in a bright pink onesie, as her introduced her to his followers.

“Hi Instagram …. only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert,” he wrote in the caption.

Rupert’s debut post has over 3.4 million likes at the time of reporting and he has 4.1 million followers.

After the first post of his daughter, the Harry Potter star has been filling his page by promoting his upcoming show Servant Season 2.
