Mum-of-two, Jules Robinson shares her tips for building a versatile wardrobe without spending big.

Getting dressed when you’re a mum can mean finding clothes that work just as hard as you do. You want to feel good, but you also need pieces that can take you from work to the school run, the park and everything else that lands on the family calendar.

For Jules Robinson, who shares sons Oliver, 5, and Carter, 2, with husband Cam Merchant, the key is building a wardrobe that gives you plenty of options without needing to spend a fortune.

“As a busy mum, I know how important it is to have an effortless capsule wardrobe that takes you from looking chic for work to chasing the kids around the park with total confidence,” says Jules.

Make your wardrobe work harder

Rather than filling your wardrobe with pieces you’ll only wear once, Jules says it’s all about choosing versatile styles.

“This collection is so versatile with pieces that can be mixed and matched to maximise cost-per-wear,” she says.

For busy mums, that means choosing pieces you can wear in different ways and pair with what you already own. You don’t need a whole new wardrobe each season, either. A few well-chosen pieces can give your existing wardrobe a fresh feel.

Spring style without the big price tag

Jules’ advice comes as BIG W launches its Spring/Summer ’26 collection, packed with trend-led pieces for everyday life.

The womenswear range starts from $8, with 80 per cent of the collection priced at $20 or less. BIG W’s Sydney team has curated the collection locally, bringing some of the season’s key trends to easy-to-wear, affordable pieces.

For Jules, an affordable wardrobe doesn’t mean compromising on style or how you feel. “Yet again, BIG W is proving you don’t need a premium price tag to look and feel amazing,” she says.

A little refresh for the home

The new-season collection isn’t just about fashion. BIG W has also launched a new home range, with decor starting from $3.50 and 80 per cent of decor and tabletop pieces priced under $15.

The collection brings three key style directions to life.

Mediterranean Daze brings a relaxed Euro-summer feel with classic stripes, hand-drawn motifs and navy, crisp white and warm terracotta.

Grounded Calm taps into Cottagecore with soft pink, green and sky-blue tones, delicate florals and a cosy, nostalgic feel.

Finally, Artful Living embraces the Dopamine Decor trend with bold green, pink and blue shades, playful shapes and plenty of personality.

Whether you’re refreshing your wardrobe for spring or adding a few new touches to your home, BIG W makes it easy to update your space without blowing the budget.

And for busy mums, Jules’ advice is simple: choose pieces that work harder, mix and match easily and make you feel good without the premium price tag.
