Your child’s favourite treat just got a whole lot healthier
If packing your little one’s school lunchbox feels like a daily puzzle, you’re not alone. Between trying to dodge sugar overloads and finding something that won’t return home untouched (or be traded with friends), even filling the humble beverage slot can be surprisingly tricky.
Enter two new options from Australia’s Own, each designed to make mornings a little smoother. The much-loved Aussie kids’ milk brand has just launched Kids No Sugar Added Chocolate Milk and High Protein Chocolate Milk, both created with busy, sport-loving families in mind.
Can chocolate milk really be good for you?
Chocolate milk might already be a lunchbox favourite, but it also brings some solid nutrition credentials to the table. Naturally containing carbohydrates, protein, B vitamins and key electrolytes, it can help support energy replenishment and muscle repair after a big day of school and sport. And with around 1.7 million Aussie kids taking part in organised weekly sports, convenient nutrition is high on many parents’ priority lists.
How Australia’s Own is doing chocolate milk differently
With their two new chocolate milk variations, Australia’s own is catering to different age groups:
The new No Sugar Added Chocolate Milk contains 45 per cent less sugar than the brand’s regular chocolate milk, while still delivering protein for muscle growth, vitamin B2 for energy production and a high level of calcium, making it perfect for little ones. It also boasts a 5 Health Star Rating and contains no artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or artificial sweeteners. And for convenience, it’s available in a handy 6-pack of 200ml serves; ideal for stocking up the fridge for the week.

Alternatively, for growing tweens and teens who seem to be permanently hungry, the High Protein Chocolate Milk packs 10 grams of protein per serve, which is 50 per cent more protein than the standard version. It also carries a 5 Health Star Rating and is free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives. These come in 3-packs of 200ml serves, making them easy to slip into a school bag or grab on the way to afternoon training.
With research showing that most parents carefully check nutritional information when packing lunchboxes, it is no surprise that brands are stepping up. Now available at Woolworths nationwide, these new additions aim to strike that all-important balance between better-for-you and kid-approved taste.
