Kids down. Gin up!

The Classic Negroni

The Negroni dates back to Italy in 1919 and was a variation on the classic Americano cocktail (Campari, Martini Rosso and Soda). Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to make the drink stronger so (being a man of taste and style) he added gin. The ‘Count Negroni’ was born but it soon became known simply as the Negroni. It’s become one of the drinks of the current gin renaissance.

Ingredients:

  • 25ml Warner’s London Dry Gin
  • 25ml Campari
  • 25ml Sweet Vermouth

Garnish:

  • Orange peel

Glassware:

  • Rocks

Method:

  • Pour all of the ingredients into an ice filled mixing glass, stir for 60 seconds and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with an orange peel, sit back, relax and enjoy!

Rhubarb Sour

The classic sour can be made with many spirits; however using Warner’s Rhubarb Gin however changes the complexity of the drink completely. The lemon and sugar create a sherbet like flavour with a burst of rhubarb coming through. The addition of the egg white gives the drink a smoother, richer texture.

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Warner’s Rhubarb Gin
  • 25ml Lemon juice
  • 20ml Sugar syrup
  • Dash Angostura bitters
  • 1 Egg white (optional)

Garnish:

  • Lemon twist

Glassware:

  • Coupette

Method:

  • Shake all ingredients together with ice for 10 seconds. Double strain into the other half of the shaker and empty the ice
  • Dry shake for another 10 seconds and pour into a Coupette, garnish with the lemon twist
