Alex Nation’s son hospitalised after constant daycare illnesses
“Max has had a different illness every single week with maybe only 3 full days of respite.”
Since welcoming her third child earlier this year, Alex Nation has described the difficult winter she has experienced, with her one-year-old son, Maxwell picking up constant illnesses from daycare.
Alex, who won Richie Strahan’s heart on season four of The Bachelor and later appeared on the second season of Bachelor in Paradise, before tying the knot with Carson Jory in December 2020, wrote a lengthy Instagram caption to explain the toll the never-ending sicknesses have had on her family.
“This has been Max’s first winter in childcare and it has pushed me well past my emotional threshold,” she begins.
“Since Pearl has been born (which is now almost 4 months ago) Max has had a different illness every single week with maybe only 3 full days of respite.”
Listing the illnesses Max has suffered over the past few months, Alex wrote: “Ear infections, croup, gastro, HFM, strep throat, bronchiolitis and now most recently RSV where he had to be admitted for a few days due to respiratory distress.”
The former Bachelor star continues: “The nights monitoring him and listening to his breathing have been anxiety inducing and my mental health has taken a hit these last 10 days.”
Heartbreakingly, Alex’s baby girl, Pearl has also been sick.
“Pearl has also since tested positive for RSV, rhinovirus and adenovirus and for the last 4 nights has been up most of the night crying, coughing and struggling to BF. Even though she’s been so unwell, she’s still managed to smile though the little darling.”

Understandably, any parent, would feel overwhelmed by this amount of sickness.
“I just didn’t expect the sickness to be this constant, this unrelenting. It has been near impossible for me to work and maintain any sort of productivity. And I know I’m not in this hellscape alone! Like is it even f***ing worth it? I don’t know,” she writes.
“All I know is Moo’s little body needs a break and so do we. But we also need to work.. urghh I’m getting wound up tight as I write this.”

Alex finished the post by recommending parents follow their instincts when it comes to their children and to seek help.
“Anyway, if you’re not already following @tinyheartseducation you need to. When we were sent home the first time with Max I knew something wasn’t right. His breathing just didn’t look right. He had the trach tug, the flaring nostrils, the whistle sounding wheeze and the colour of his lips turned a pale pink colour. When I referred to their respiratory distress posts I knew Max needed urgent attention.. and he did. Always trust your gut x”
Alex and husband Carson Jory welcomed their first child, Maxwell in September, 2021 and daughter, Pearl arrived in April 2023.
Alex shares her first-born son Elijah with her ex-husband Joel Porter.
